Regional Nursery Cook (Bank Staff)

Join Our Team at Little Green Rascals as a Regional Nursery Cook!  (Zero Hours - Flexible Contract)

An experienced Cook to work across all 7 of the LGR Nursery sites in York (based at Flaxton Nursery) to cover holiday and staff sickness. Strong knowledge of food hygiene allergens is essential for this role.​​​​​​

Pay: £13.65 per Hour *plus accrued holiday pay
Working Hours: Zero hour contract - This gives you flexibility to work different shifts each week depending on the Nursery needs, between 8am-6pm - Monday to Friday.
Location: Based at Flaxton, Draft Farm, Flaxton, North Yorkshire, YO60 7QP - Also to cover shifts across other LGR sites.

Areas you will cover: As a Regional Role, it will be essential that you are able to drive to different locations. All Little Green Rascals sites are within a close proximity of each other. This region includes our beautiful nurseries in Little Green Rascals:

What Your Role Involves

As a Regional Chef / Cook in our nursery, you will be working across all 7 of the Little Green Rascals sites (York) where needed to cover holiday and staff sickness - Providing delicious, nutritious food for 100+ children. As well as supporting with preparing the menu, you will also be responsible for planning and ordering the food within the budget.

Our Cooks also support with activities such as baking with the children, so a warm and friendly way of working is required. You will also ensure the kitchen environment is kept clean and safe.

About our Nursery 

Based in a charming farmhouse, our nursery is the perfect setting for our outdoor-focused learning-environment centred around the importance of playing in nature, and we make full use of that each day. At Little Green Rascals Flaxton we provide care for up to 60 children, each one benefiting from our unique approach that encourages exploration, curiosity, and a love for the great outdoors. We have 3 rooms, Wiggly Worms (babies), Cheeky Hens (toddlers) and Little Green Rascals (preschool). We are also incredibly lucky at Flaxton to have access to an amazing Forest School, run by our Forest School Lead. Although we’re tucked away in Flaxton, finding us is easy, as we’re close to the A64 between York and Malton with onsite parking for staff.
