Are you someone who thrives on organisation, attention to detail, and getting things right first time? At The Old Station Nursery, we’re looking for an Onboarding Administrator to join our People team and support the safe and smooth onboarding of new starters across our nurseries.

Bring your organisation, pace, and proactive approach and help us get every new starter off to the very best start.

To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience in onboarding, recruitment administration, or HR administration.

Pay: £13.50 per hour
Working Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Hybrid working from home and our office in 1220 Arlington Park, Reading, Berkshire, RG7 4SA

About the Role

This is a fast-paced, detail-focused role where you’ll take ownership of the onboarding journey, from offer through to start date, ensuring every check is completed accurately and in line with safer recruitment requirements.

What Your Role Involves

As a valued member of our team, you’ll:

  • Manage all pre-employment checks from offer to start date.
  • Process DBS checks, Right to Work and references in line with compliance requirements.
  • Ensure full employment history is reviewed, including any gaps.
  • Support risk assessments where required (e.g. DBS pending).
  • Act as the main point of contact for candidates throughout onboarding.
  • Keep candidates engaged and informed, ensuring a smooth experience.
  • Work closely with Nursery Managers, Area Managers, and the Recruitment team.
  • Track progress and proactively manage any delays or risks.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready records across systems.
